What are the code requirements to install NEMA 14/50 Tesla car charging power outlet for Washington state?
Thanks
Thanks
Do I need to install 50 amps GFCI breaker ?Also may need load calc depending on existing svc.
Depends on if it is indoors/outdoors, dwelling/non dwelling, which NEC cycle applies, or combinations of all of those factors. (Indoors is presuming it is in a garage).Do I need to install 50 amps GFCI breaker ?
technically, it is receptacles operating at 150 volts to ground or less. In dwellings that would be pretty rare to be more than 150 to ground though.Know the Washington exceptions/changes to the NEC and where to find them: https://app.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=296-46b
Note that the 2020 NEC is effective October 29th of this year. That will levy a GFCI requirement on all garage receptacles, including 240V ones. Hard wired, it won't need it.
