wiring for submersible pump

hello i am having trouble with a 115 volt submersible pump....this pump is new from LOWES....it replaces a pump that was also new that went out after 2 weeks....that replaced a pump i had for over 15 years....i am using a 30 amp breaker...through a new pressure switch and i get 120 volts through 12 gauge wire pump is sitting in a 55 gallon drum for testing i have it wired and the pump doesnt respond....i am open for suggestions and thanks for your time
