Water Feature Pump Question

Hello Everyone,

I have a 15A GFI outdoor receptacle that is protected by an In-Use Wet Location Cover.

The electrical inspector for my county told me on the telephone that connecting a UL approved 30W (yes 30 Watts - not a typo) pump to this receptable would violate code as code states that pumps can only be connected to circuits having 12 gauge ground wiring.

Please comment/clarify.

Only if this pump is for a pool.
Look at 680.21(A)(1)
