Ok, then from ALL the replies here I can safely assume one single outlet and the USB ports on a receptacle meets code.

Thanks everyone!

Oh, and by the way Fitzdrew516, nice lamp!! :)

From NEC

Receptacle. A receptacle is a contact device installed at the
outlet for the connection of an attachment plug. A single
receptacle is a single contact device with no other contact
device on the same yoke. A multiple receptacle is two or
more contact devices on the same yoke.

emphasis added

note lack of plural on the word receptacle.

If you are trying to say a duplex receptacle is a single receptacle to the NEC I will have to strongly disagree.

A duplex is two contact devices. A multiple receptacle by definition. Charlie's rule. Unless you would rather use another source for definitions, like wiki.

Charlie's Rule works despite the use of graphic enhancement, and lack of, for certain words.

A duplex receptacle is two receptacles. A fleet of trucks has more than one truck. A herd of elk has more than one animal. A brain has more than one cell; most of them anyway.
