I stumbled across this map from the US Energy Information Administration.

Its pretty neat. You can play with the layers and stuff but the first thing that surprised me was how many hydro plants we have. Granted many of them are smaller - not like grand coulee or Niagara scale - but neat nonetheless (zoom in to like a quarter of the country and things get much less jumbled).
