Is a lightning protection system installed on a tree , to protect it from lightning damage, required to be connected to the electrical service grounding system? The tree in question is 30' from the homes electric service.

No. Only a lightning protection system installed on a structure also served by a utility service would need to be bonded to that system.

Sorry, but its probably best to just leave the tree alone.
