Hey everyone,
Does the SSBJ for a separately derived systems/service have to be terminated at equipment grounding bar or neutral only? Just wanted to make sure there is not a similar requirement like GEC must terminate to neutral unless there is a wire or bus jumper between equipment grounding terminal bar to neutral. Thanks for the help!!

The SSBJ always connects to the EGC in the system disconnecting means and always connects to the non-current-carrying metal parts at the source.

Only grounding electrode conductor(s) have the option of connecting to either side of a wire or busbar SBJ.

In a separately derived system it can be in the transformer or generator, it does not have to be in the disconnect..

The GEC connection and the SBJ can be... and it is required that they both be in the same enclosure.

The SSBJ is always from one to the other (assuming separate enclosures) and never connected directly to the grounded circuit conductor.

Doesn't the SSBJ somehow connect to the grounded conductor? Whether it's in a transformer or at the downstream panel via the main bonding jumper.

Yes, always on a grounded system, but always indirectly through the system bonding jumper, never directly.
