Power Strips in a kitchen

Has anyone ever installed power strips as a substitute for individual outlets on a counter top? I am working on a remodel job and the customer is asking for power strips in the kitchen.

We install Plugmold under cabinets all of the time, but not powerstrips.

There are some code rules to follow, such as 210.52(C)(5)
