Can branch circuit wiring from a subpanel be fed back through the nipple connecting it to the main panel and then fed out through another conduit originating in the main panel to the branch circuit outlet(s)?

Saw this at an industrial facility today. Obviously not the best set-up, but is there any section of the NEC that deals with this?

Thanks...Jemsvcs

Re: Panelboards/Wiring

The code does not prohibit branch circuit conductors and feeders from being installed in the same raceway. Section 230.7 does restrict these circuit from being installed in raceways with service conductors, however service, feeders, and branch circuits can all occupy the same enclosure.

Your installation describes a branch circuit sharing a raceway with a feeder. It then occupies a service enclosure with the feeder and service conductors. I don't not see a violation. :)
