We have an installation with IG outlets served from a branch circuit panel with an isolated ground bar. The distribution panel that serves the downstream panel does NOT have an IG bar.

The facility has a cable tray with a separate #6 AWG grounding conductor routed entire length and bonded at dry type xfmr secondary, which is grounded. The cable tray makes contact with building steel in many locations.

Now the question...can an IG conductor be run from the branch circuit panel to the bonding conductor in the cable tray and have this suffice as the IG path? In other words the IG and the EG are technically bonded at the cable tray instead of directly at the source.

The isolated equipment grounding conductor must be in the same raceway or cable as the feeder for the IG circuit.
