As shown in the attached figure. This is a main 400A breaker disconnect switch. Typically for something like this i typically see fused switches or a boxed circuit breaker. In this particular case, since the disconnect handle kit is on the breaker handle - if a short occurred will the handle switch on the breaker leg cause it from tripping correctly? Thank you

The breaker will still trip even with that handle interlock. Just to clarify that is a circuit breaker and not a molded case switch?

All breakers listed to UL489 have been of trip free construction for the past 60 years or so.
