Can you put 277 volt fixtures in a dwelling? other than to store them.

Jim, huhh? We install more 277 V fixtures than 120 V, and there is no diference in the quotes, just clarification of voltage.

I can buy ballast at the same price all day long and the lamps are the same in either fixture.

2000 IBC, Section 1003.2.5.1 Protruding objects are permitted to extend below the minimum ceiling height required by section 1003.2.4 provided a minimum headroom of 80 inches (6'8") shall be provided for any walking surface, including walks, corridors, aisles and passageways. Not more than 50% of the cieling area of a means of egress shall be reduced in height by protruding objects.

i assumed it had to do with safety issues because we never had a problem with 120 volt fixtures on store shelving
