I need help on the kilowatt-hour formula, I need to install a motor and I want to know how much money we would save if we turn it off for about 6 hours a day.

Re: KILOWATT-HOUR

25% ? (Sorry about that vain attempt at humor.)

Ok, it depends on how precise you need your answer to be. It also depends on what you already know. Here?s a simple, but not extraordinarily precise method: Take 75% of the motor?s horsepower rating (gives you KW), multiply by 6 (to get KW-Hr), and multiply by your utility rates ($ per KW-Hr). That is one day?s worth of savings.

This method includes several simplifying assumptions. But you didn?t give many details, such as what the motor does for a living or how it is used (e.g., runs a conveyor belt at full-speed-full-time, or runs an elevator intermittently at less than full load). If you want a more precise answer, can you give us more information?
