We have been installing conduits at gas stations for over 20 years and finally find an electrical engineer who does not interpret the code the way we do. We have been installing pvc sch. 40 conduit at gas stations for years using the 514.8 exception No.2: We use Galv. metal at each end for at least the last 2' of run and extend up or into the equipment at both ends with seal offs at both ends. The conduit is buried a minumum or 24" per the requirements. The engineer says that this does not meet Art. 352. We say it does meet all the requirements. Can you clear this up? David Channell

For what it's worth, I agree with you.

A nice thing about Art 352 is there is a specific list of "not permitted" applications. Which one is the engineer referring to?

If this is his design however, he can specify what he wishes; he has no obligation to alter his design simply because the alternate "meets code."
