This is important.

Not an alternate path

But the path. Look at the defintion of the effective ground fault current path in 250, and the ground fault current path. The first is the one we make, the second is the one the fault current takes....

It is not going to be easy to get the idea of ground and grounding out of the vocabulary and mind. The idea of grounding has been drilled in quite deep. I think the first step is to begin using the term bonding and understanding its importance.
