Re: GFCI in attics
The wording that included "attic" was deleted for the 2002 NEC. However, I believe the section still requires a receptacle in the attic location for equipment in the attic, but it stillis not required to be GFCI protected.
I submitted a proposal for the 2005 NEC to require the 210.62 receptacle to have GFCI protection in areas such as attics, rooftops, and crawl spaces, but is was rejected.
