I recently purchased a 3 phase generator to power some projects I am working on. It is plenty big to run my house in an emergency, and is rated for constant use. The problem is I have it wired for 480V 3 phase. Its a 12 wire generator, re configurable easy enough, but I dont want to have to be re wireing the generator head outside in the middle of an ice storm. Is there an easier way in an emergency to switch the generator to 220 single phase without buying an expensive transformer? I will have a residential guy wire up the manual transfer switch, but as an industrial electrician I feel like I should be able to figure this out. Google was no help looking for a selector switch, so if you know of one please post the link.
