Exit Signs

45' x 45' one level commercial showroom. 3 glass doors to outside (3 corners). Are the exit signs required to be lighted. Business is only open during daylight hours. Thanks for any info.

Hello Steve. IBC 1003.2.10.4 Exit sign illumination. Exit signs shall be internally or externally illuminated. The face of an exit sign illuminated from an external source shall have an intensity of not less than 5 foot-candles. Internally illuminated signs shall provide equivilant luminance and be listed for the purpose.

Yes, they do need to be illuminated.

What location and type of business are you in that 'daylight only' hours are seasonally acceptable?
