I understand that there is a new code out that does not allow compression fittings on EMT as being watertight. Does this mean EMT is not allowed on a commercial building exterior anymore?

Its not a code, its a change in the listing and acceptance of compression EMT "raintight" fittings. Most connectors are not listed, some manfactures have resubmitted products that have passed testing. I don't know which are and are not, perhaps someone will post that for us.
