Dears Sirs,
Is there a NEC requirement for emergency stop button or switch for AHU's in mechanical rms., other than information technology rms., if so could you please reference it.
Also, is anyone familiar with the relatively new "Force Protection Requirements", if so I need to know where to find the requirements for installing an emergency stop button to control all the AHU's in a facility at one time.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Wayne

Re: Emergency Stops & Force Protection

Can't help with frist part of your question but could you possibly be referring to "force guided contacts" required to provide a "control reliable" e-stop system? If that is what you are lookig for, I can help there.

Generally this requirement will not be in the NEC. It will be in the appropriate mechanical code for your jurisdiction.

For example NFPA 90A Standard for the Installation of Air-Conditioning and Ventilating Systems 2002 Edition

6.2 Manual Control.
6.2.1 Each air distribution system shall be provided with at least one manually operable means for stopping the operation of the supply, return, and exhaust fan(s) in an emergency.
6.2.2 The means of manual operation shall be located at an approved location.
