.No they are suppose to be mechanics but in thepast never did electrical work . They have removed motors after being disconnected, and put them on its base. Now witb 70e the company wants to have loto people which now leads to other work.. I also believe anyone can be trained to do most jobs. We were trained before we were able togo out and work, so should they.

Sounds like management may not have a full understanding of what LOTO is.

70E is electrical safety. Though LOTO does apply to electrical energy, it also applies to all sources of energy including air, hydraulics, steam, or anything that may unexpectedly release energy in any harmful manner while workers are working on something, and applies to all employees that may be exposed to the hazard and not just electricians or maintenance workers. Even a compressed or stretched spring may have situations where some kind of LOTO needs to be applied so energy stored in the spring can't be suddenly released to a worker that may be exposed to the hazard. Office workers could even be required to LOTO something if a hazard is present.
