What does code say about placement of electric baseboard heaters in a single family residence? I am getting conflicting info on the subject.

A baseboard heater can be installed any where except in a shower or bathtub. They must be kept clear of receptacle outlets and cords.

The location for best heating efficiency is too check with a heating contractor. I usually installed them on outside walls, under the windows. Set them above the carpeting for good air flow.

Bennie, While we are addressing the subject, I installed a wall heater, 1000W, 18" from the side of a tub at the foot end; there was no other place in the bathroom to install a heater except for the ceiling. I couldn't find a specific code reference that governs that. Is there one? :)

Jibber: I can't think of any thing that would prohibit your installation. Others may have an opinion and can add more to this.

The only thing may be if an NBA player buys the home and dangles his legs over the end. :p
