DC Disconnect between Solar Panels and Inverter

Is it, and if yes a code reference please, required to install a disconnecting means between DC solar panels (400 volt 30 amp with Rapid Shut Down devices on each panel) and the inverters which are located 60 feet away? My AHJ is operating under 2017 NEC currently.

Yes, but if there is a disconnect in the inverter, as is typical, then that normally meets the requirment and most likely there is no requirement for an additional disconnect. You just have to use metal raceways if running through the building.

The distance is irrelevant.

See 690.15, 690.15(A) and 690.31(G).
