Re: Cutting conduit

Klein makes a BX cutter tool. For MC and AC cables which can be bent to separate the interlocked tape, these work well to cut (they are bypass cutters). They also have a round notch for rounding the armor after bending.

Edited to answer second question. AC cable (also called BX) is a cable where the armor and included bonding strip are used as the EGC. The bonding strip aids in continuity of the armor and reduces inductive impedance. MC cable armor is not rated for use as an EGC and it contains an insulated EGC. There are other differences in how they can be used, but this at least explains the construction difference.

This is the AC/MC Roto-Splitter from Ideal Tools. Go to this website. There is the newer type that eleiminates the "Set-Screw" clamp with the pressure release type clamp. I own three of them. Two in case I loose one (which I haven't) and 1 that will easily split 1/2" and 3/4" greenfield flex. A hacksaw is great for flex - but the splitter is faster.
