Although this is about solar I thought that it would have more benefit here for members who are working on solar or getting into solar. The following pictures are from a project I recently had the pleasure to walk through. This is a 6 meg site and as I was walking towards the top of the hill to the inverters I opened a few combiner boxes (CB) to see how the workmanship was.

The first picture is the only labeling on the CB. No designation as to what the CB# was out of the 80 or so that were on the site.

Both the 2nd and 3rd pictures are of the different color coding that I found within the CB.

I had a feeling as to what type of inverters were on the site without seeing them after looking at the wiring. Do you know what type of system you are looking at the wiring.

To me this is a dangerous condition that electricians need to be made aware of when they are working with solar. Color coding can be deceiving and what you think is the hot is not necessarily the hot.
