How do you guys mount disconnects for the A/C units on the roof of a commercial building?

I know that mounting them directly to the A/C units is the quickest, most cost-effective method, but this can't always be done due to working clearances or equipment design.

Is a unistrut rack screwed down to the roof the only other option?

Re: Commercial Roof Disconnects

There are always options, limited only by the imagination of the designer. Secured is the keyword. What is the building made of? If structurally of wood, why not extend some PT 4x4s through the ceiling, secure them to the structure below, and mount to that? If of metal, you could use 2x2 angle stock, welded or bolted to the structure below. Making a water-tight seal to the roofing membrane will also need attention, something that channel-struts may have a problem with.
