We had a an On/Off again customer ask us to Ok some wiring he did in his house and add some things. By the time we got done he would have been far better off calling us, or any EC, in the 1st place
See post #5NM flooded above the outlets (terminations) and any electrical equipment under sewage should be replaced.
I agree a couple of inches of sewer water the wire would not be hurt.
Energize with a good breaker and check it out.
As far as some type of “standard”,
UL has a stance on flooded wires..
NEC says NM not for wet locations..
I saw that. But like all the other threads this one gets off on other tangents,ie: generalized flooding and replacementSee post #5
I would not take responsibility for wiring inside the walls that cannot be seen.
We sort of taking that chance on every install we do that involves use of some the existing wiring, but this situation is different from that - it is an AHJ asking you to let them off the hook for no rough inspection via a method with no real criteria for the assessment - then sort of shifting all liability to the poor sucker that falls for it.I get it but you are willing to take a chance without seeing what is behind the walls? I'm not....
