Re: article 645

Hi Arizim,

Check 645.5(D)(5)for types of cable allowed in the room mainly under raised floor. If you are referring to Cat.5e, there are riser and plenum types, blue is plenum that is allowed in certain conditions, and grey (riser) that is restricted because of outer jacket smoke generation from fire.

Re: article 645

Both plenum (CMP)and riser (CMR) listed cable is available in many colors- gray, white, blue orange, green, yellow and sometimes violet and more. The color has nothing to do with the use or listing. Use whatever colors make you happy. :)

Even regular CM (non-plenum and non-riser) is ok below the raised floor. See 645.5(D)(5)(c)

Be extra sure you are fist compliant with 645.2 before you use these leniencies.

Re: article 645

Hal,

Great info. (I'm still learning) I take it that the only difference in outer jacket beyond designer colors of CMP & CMR must be the 5' low smoke vs 12' char distance in the UL flame tests. :)
