There is extensive information on Mikes site under newsletters-afci. Also look at the archived forum posts.
When the 2002 NEC was adopted starting in 2002, there were a lot of posts, have been few lately.
95% of all AFCI trips are due to neutral to ground connections. The AFCI has a grounded neutral sensor, same as GFCI, but not a class A, rather 30-50 MA.
