A previous resident in my home ran 110 from my basement subpanel out to a little outbuilding on the property. Among many other things they did wrong, the wire is undersized and of the wrong type.

The buried conduit it 1-1/4" schedule 40 PVC. Would I be better off pulling 8-2 UF wire, (2) #8 THHN and (1) #10 THHN? (It'll be on a 40-amp GFCI breaker.)
