A few questions related to multiple motor controllers in a single starter panel.

430-74 states that "motor control circuits shall be arranged so that they will be disconnected from all sources of supply when the disconnecting means is in the open position."

First off, by disconnecting means, does the NEC refer to the main disconnect for the panel, the disconnect required for the motor controller by 430-102a or either?

Second, does the NEC require that the main disconnect for a panel disconnect all sources of supply inside that panel? The starters are controlled by a PLC. The PLC I/O cards get there 120 VAC from a source other than the 480 VAC that feeds the panel and goes through the main disconnect.

Last, by motor control circuits does the NEC means just the wires to the coil or are the status contacts from the aux contact included. I read some comments on proposal 11-49 for the 2005 NEC and it implied that status signals were not required to be disconnected.

Any help is appreciated.
