Can someone please clear this one up once and for all?

I've got a Nema 4X, SS enclosure installed in a Class I, Division 2 Area - process instrument junction box, analog/discreet signals landing on terminal strips ONLY, i.e. no arcing devices etc. whatsoever.
The conduit is bottom entry, 2" RGS, and has a conduit seal. I say this seal is NOT required, even though the conduit is 2". I'm having a hard time convincing others since language is somewhat vague, at least to me it is.
Thanks in advance - Dale

Unless it is being used to establish the boundary seal required by 501.15B(2) (or possible 501.15(A)(4)), I would agree it does not sound like it is required.

501.15(A)(1) should not apply in Division 2 location.

First, the rules that apply are in 501.15(B) since you said Class I, Division 2. Note that the rule in 501.15(B)(1) only requires seals in enclosures that are required to be explosion proof enclosures. Your enclosure is not an explosion proof enclosure.
