120v -1phase from a 230v.-3phase contactor

I am trying to get a 120volt configuration from a 230v. 3ph contactor .I've jumpered the T2&T3 terminals, fed the coil with 120v.I also have a small 120 relay that needs to be energized with the start button. Can I terminate the relay off the T1 or should I use the T2 to feed the coil?

Your post jumps around with terms and MO, but if I understand what you are trying to do, it sounds as if you can come off of the T1 terminal.

Is this a 3-pole contactor, or a 3-phase motor starter?

Why did you jumper T2 & T3?

What voltage is on T1 and referenced to where?

When you say "a 230v. 3ph contactor", does that mean it has a 230 volt coil installed?

You will have to install a 120 volt coil if you are going to supply it with 120 volts.

Re: 120v -1phase from a 230v.-3phase contactor

Do you have 120V to ground from L1 or L2 or L3?
Our 3 phase is 240V grounded B phase. We have 240V to ground on L1 or L3. L2 to ground is 0v. L1-L2=240v L1-L3=240v L2-L3=240v

There is no way to get 120V unless you use an transformer.

I think he's trying to get 120 volts from the center tap of a multivoltage contactor coil that has the jumper set to 240 volts which would be T2-T3 line in would be T1-T4 which would give you 120 volts from T1-T2 or T4-T3 but would be a violation of listing. using the coil as a transformer is not a good way to do it.
