Wire / Cable Brand Quality

With copper getting pretty expensive, I'm wondering about potential quality issues with no-name wire... Menard's (here in the Midwest) is a lot less expensive than other outlets, but I don't want to buy 8000' of stuff that will make me mad later.

Have you seen differences in wire quality by brand?
