Whole house GFCI protection

What are the benefits and down side for changing either entire panel breakers to GFCI or changing all receptacles in the house to GFCI?
I am planning to make change to my house and would like to know what others may do.
I am an engineer and I do the work myself. Cost and time are not issue.
