I have a customer whose house we moved six years ago and during the last 18 months she has had several pin hole leaks in her inside water piping...

Does anyone have any ideas where I should start.

Her house is in an old potato field with chemical residue and she has a well pump and is within 1000 feet of the atlantic ocean..

George T. Everett lives in this area also I think anyway

All Comments welcome

Thanks Dave

You might search the newsletter archives of this site. There was a newsletter about this that I'm sure had some good ideas on it. Just a thought.

Re: water piping electrolysis

Dave has the pH of the water been checked? Acidic water will errode the inside of the pipe causing pin holes. Excessive water velocity will also cause erroding, but I think water quality is more commonly the cause.

This is one of the reasons for pushing the acceptance of PEX and CPVC for interior water piping.

The first thing I would do is have a water analysis done. Anything either side of neutral (ph that is) can be a problem. They will also tell you about any of those chemicals.
