Not specifically; if it is simply a nameplate it may be replaced. Keep Section 110.21 in mind.
Note: California has its own Electrical Code (CEC) but this section is unchanged from the NEC.

Application of a "listing label" is subject to the rules of the various LA city approved labs. Most labs generally (and UL specifically) only permit application of a label by the original manufacturer or a field service rep of the lab.

This is the URL address of the LA City Codes:

The City Electrical Code is In the Los Angeles Municipal Code, ChapterIX, Article 3
these are the sections you are looking for:

SEC. 93.0402. SALE, INSTALLATION AND USE.
(Amended by Ord. No. 172,593, Eff. 6/28/99, Oper. 7/1/99.)

No person shall sell, offer for sale, advertise, or display for sale, dispose of by way of gift, loan, rental, lease or premium, or install or use any ?equipment,? as defined in Article 100 of the C.E.C., unless that equipment has been approved by the Department.

EXCEPTIONS:

1. Equipment which is not similar to any equipment currently listed by the recognized laboratories approved by the Department, or which is to be custom assembled or modified for use at a specific address, provided all component parts of that equipment which are similar to those currently listed by any of the above laboratories are approved, and further provided any equipment sold or installed according to this exception shall not be used unless it has been inspected and found to comply with all provisions of this Code.

2. Equipment listed by an approved laboratory, provided the label, symbol or other identifying mark of the approved laboratory is affixed to the equipment and further provided that the equipment is installed and used in conformance with its listing and this Code.

SEC. 93.0403. USED EQUIPMENT.
(Added by Ord. No. 154,234, Eff. 9/8/80.)

(a) Any used or secondhand material, including any fitting, device, appliance, apparatus, or other equipment reinstalled for electric wiring shall comply with the following provisions:

1. All such equipment shall be in good, satisfactory and durable condition, and adequate and satisfactory for the purpose intended or used, all of the foregoing to be determined by the Department. Such equipment must also comply with all requirements of Division 4 regarding approval.

2. No used or secondhand insulated conductors shall be used for services or for circuits operating at more than 250 volts.

(b) Nothing contained in this section shall be construed to waive any other specific requirements of the Code, including requirements for nameplates, enclosure of live parts, horsepower rating of switches, or protection from corrosion.
