Transfer Switch Testing

We have a transfer switch test procedure that states "Simulate loss of phase-to-ground voltage for each phase of normal source." I'm curious if and how this is typically done. Thanks.

That may not always work, on the cheaper Kohler transferswitches, the voltage sense is only from two of the phases, if the third phase is lost, it will not start and transfer. If the switch has a phase loss option, it must be on. Simulating a phase to ground loss would be difficult, unless it is feed with a fusible bucket, and even then, it would be a full loss when turned off to remove a fuse.
