sunlight/ weather resistant thermastat wire

We were just red tagged on our inspection, the reason stated by the inspector was that the CL2 we used only had sunlight resistant on the wire , it did not have weather resistant as well. this wire runs in the open air, not in conduit. any help with this would be appreciated.

Don't think I've ever seen a wire marked "weather resistant". Sunlight resistant should indicate enough that it is for use outdoors though not necessarily for direct burial. Get the manufacturers specs and show him.
