I am installing a sub panel inches away from the main. I'm planning on using a 2" rigid nipple. question, "Do I need to pull the EGC, fourth conductor, or will the nipple suffice?" The neutral in the sub panel is "floating".

Spend a buck and put in the ground conductor.

I investigated a kid electrocuted because they were too cheap to put in a ground conductor.

If we're talking about the same thing, that 60 amp circuit would require a #10.

Technically, sure, but why not be 100% and sleep well? :D

As Dereck said it is not required but we always install them to a sub-panel. If you do use one it would be sized according to 250.122.
