NEC Article 230.71 covers Maximum Number of Disconnects. Exceptions to the rule cover power monitoring equipment, transient voltage surge suppressors or the control circuit of the ground fault protection system or power operable service disconnecting means. The question is, when installing an Automatic Power Factor Correction Capacitor with a built in Circuit breaker that is tapped off the buss of the main, is the capacitor breaker included in the rule since it does monitor power when activating contactors to correct the power factor?
