I'll settle this.

Make the 50a circuit into a feeder and install a small sub-panel.

It could even be a two-space if you can find a 2-30/2-20 tandem.

If you have two pieces of equipment, one rated for a 50A circuit, and one rated for a 20A circuit, and the load calc is 50A or less, and you have a 50A supply, all you need is a single enclosed 20A OCPD for the 20A piece of equipment.
