On a commercial building with a 600 amp, 208/120 volt 3 phase 4 wire service, I'm looking at installing a 175kw generator with a 600 amp automatic transfer switch. My generator has an onboard main breaker and my question is if overcurrent protection is required between the utility transformer and my transfer switch.

I just asked almost an identical question, only differnce really is size of generator and mine is in a house. Look under NEC "service diconnect for generator most recent post 5/5/04"
