Are there any written requirements for the minimum distances between our work and gas equipment?

In particular between our underground service conduits and the gas service pipes. Also between our metering and/or power company pad-mount transformer and the gas meter.

Re: Required separation from natural gas meters and undergro

The short answer is no. Section 35 in the National Electrical Safety Code gives some guidance but only applies to the utilities (we base our rules on the NESC and our own desires). Rule 351 concerns the location and routing or our underground facilities.

If we have a deliberate separation from the gas (we may wish to random lay with them) rule 353 applies and recommends a radial separation of 12 inches. This separation is to "be adequate to permit access to and maintenance of either facility to limit damage to the other."

I do not believe either NFPA 70 or NFPA 54 has any clearance requirements.
