power many devices from one transformer

I understand there are precautions to take when powering two or more devices with the same transformer. If (a) the devices powered by one transformer use bridge rectifiers or (b) a combination of half-wave and full-wave bridge rectifier devices are powered by the same transformer, when grounded it will blow fuses, damage the diodes or transformer. Can anyone describe why this happens?

I have no idea what you are talking about. It is very common to power multiple things up off a single transformer, full wave, half wave or non-rectified.

There are some issues with DC rectification that are not obvious that can bite you in the shorts if you are unaware of them. Homemade brute force power supplies often exhibit the issues you raise.
