I have a parking garage in the lower level of an apt. building with many parking spots.

Does the code require any receptacles to be installed in this area?

Thanks

There is no requirement in the NEC to provide any receptacles for that garage. The 2020 has expanded the rules to require garage bay receptacles for multifamily dwelling units, but only where the garage bay attaches to the individual dwelling units. That does not appear to be the case here.

If you do happen to put in EV chargers, take note of the required heights. The guard cables are usually a little above that height requiring the charger to be in front of the cables. How do I know? Got turned down by the country of Charlotte, NC because I was 2” too high. Could not go lower and be able to open the door, so I had to build strut racks and mount the chargers in front of the cables! Haven’t been back, so I don’t know if they hit them with cars or not .
