The sign in question is the one that would be near the street entrance of a shopping center that identifies all of the tenants store names. I am having trouble navigating the NEC for such a sign. What would the NEC call this type of sign?

Commercial property existing sign

Commercial property existing sign

The sign is pre existing and my question is which part of the NEC in section 600 covers this type of sign?

Ok, it all does.

Is it fluorescent or incandescent or LED or neon? See what 600 says about ballasts and drivers and neon, whichever applies.

Are there separate branch circuits from each merchant so they control their own sign or just one for the whole thing? See what 600 says about disconnects.

You may have trouble navigating the NEC but now that you have been given the applicable article you are going to have to read through it to find what applies to your situation. It's not that long.

It’s a pylon sign, and typically a single disconnect from the house panel.
