Max power over IP

What is the largest IP switch in terms of power kva?

I have been told that 1500 va is the max power can be delivered by the switch.

Quick google search I found one around 1440watts and about 6000$🫣. As far as the absolute maximum I am not sure.

I guess that must depend on the number of ports the switch has...

There is a maximum per port defined in the standard (between 30 & 100W depending on which PoE standards are implemented), so the maximum for the switch is simply the max per port times the number of ports.

30W x 48 ports = 1440 Watts

IP is a network protocol, Ethernet is a physical connection (and media-layer protocol).

I am too with the context, but we place great stock in getting the words right; and there are Internet Protocol switches with fiber connections which don't do PoE at all.

The amount is totally dependent upon the model of the switch. For example, certain Cisco models have a total PoE power budget that can be more if you have dual power supplies, or feed those supplies 208 or 240V instead of 120V.

Well, a cisco 9400 10 slot chassis will let you run 260 ports at 90w poe concurrently so a bit over 23kw. $50-60k for a refurb.
