In Florida how do they manage to put the transformer and low voltage in the same box for the door chime, how do they pass code. /when there is no basement. Is there a special box or transformer for this?

Re: low voltage transformers with door chimes.

Well, I don't know about all of Florida, but my parents new home has the doorbell transformer installed to a 1/2" ko in a j-box cover.
I don't see a problem with it.
We may at times use this method here also.

I don't know how it is in FL and it sounds like you know something we don't.

All such transformers usually mount to a box (or cover) by means of a 1/2" KO. I suppose if the situation is that it must be installed in a finished area you could just put the box with transformer attached in the wall behind something like a 6"x6" access panel so that you can get at it. Otherwise I have seen them located in closets and attics. These locations are not necessarily code compliant in all cases everywhere.

I have lived in FL. Back in CA now. The correct method is to mount the transformer on the exterior of a jbox via 1/2 ' KO as stated above. The high voltage lines inside the box, the low voltage wiring outside the box.
