I'm planning a bathroom remodel which will include a 4x6 walk-in shower and would like to have a switch to turn the water on/off located just inside the entryway putting it roughly 4 feet away from the shower head. I'd be using solenoids like this so the switch would be using 12 VDC. Would this meet the NEC? Maybe adding this cover would be helpful to pass inspection?

Is low voltage allowed in a shower/tub?
Is the temperature pre-set? or is there a mixing valve somewhere in the shower?

It would have a mixing/on/off valve that would be left on all the time. There would be 2 solenoids on the hot and cold coming in so they would be used to turn on/off the water via the switch. I don't know if low voltage is allowed per NEC in the shower. I don't suspect it would be a hazard.

Also, there are pneumatic switches that are intrinsically safe.
